Ten hydrating skin tips to protect your skin this winter! These are our top 10 recommendations that we swear will keep your skin feeling fresh, healthy and totally happy!

Winter is upon us and it can be a challenging time to maintain healthy hydrated skin. Winter is harsh, windy, dry and often our skin really has to put on a double act protecting us from the winter elements and keeping our skin moisturized. So these are our top 10 recommendations that we swear by that will keep your skin feeling fresh, healthy and totally happy!
1. Hydration is numero uno.
If you think you are drinking enough water, think again. In the dryer months, we need to drink even more water to stay ahead of the hydration curve. Women are recommended to drink 12 cups of water a day on average. And it doesn’t hurt to drink just a little bit more! We drink warm lemon water in the winter just to keep our hydration levels up.
2. Try not to crank up the heater too high.
I know this is one is kinda like whaaaatttt, but seriously if you put on a warm cardigan and rug up a little, wear a beanie around the house to warm up, because central heat can really dry out the air and your skin like nobody’s business.
3. Use a humidifier.
Humidifiers are amazing at keeping the air in your home hydrated for your skin. Try using a humidifier in your bedroom, home office and living room. I recently switched from just having one humidifier in our babies room to having one in each of our main living spaces, and it has seriously helped!
4. Modify your cleansers.
Try not to use any cleansers that have any alcohol or chemical based agents that strip the natural moisture right out of your skin! Our Kakadu Plum cleanser is gentle, calming and will not strip away your skins natural moisture.

5. Try using Rose water
or a floral steam bath. Using flower based water, like Rose or Chamomile water in the morning and evening will add an extra boost of hydration to your skin. You can also place some dried chamomile flowers in a bowl and pour some hot water to make a flower powered facial steam bath. Flower powered toners are your winter skins new best friend. Our Hibiscus and Rose water will be your winter skin’s new best friend.

6. Try the double layer technique.
We recommend using a serum and then applying your daily moisturizer on top of your serum. Apply your serum and let it sink into your skin for 2-3 minutes before adding your daily moisturizer on top of your serum. This will lock in long lasting moisturizing goodness. This technique also doubles up as a mini treatment mask at night before you go to sleep!
7. Try to eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
I get it, salads aren’t exactly on the top of my shopping list in the wintertime, nor my daily juicing ritual I'm obsessed with in the summertime. But trying to keep your daily intake of fresh vitamins, nutrients and minerals that only come from eating healthily, will replenish your skin's natural healthy glow. Restoring your skin from the inside out! Take a chance to embrace all the amazing winter seasonal fruits and vegetables that aren’t available in the summer months, like elderberries, raspberries and kiwi fruits.
8. Moisturize your skin right after taking a shower.
Steamy hot showers in winter are great at making you super warm and toasty before bed, and also opening up your skin's pores. This allows your skin to drink in the moisturize and lock it away in your skin's cells for longer lasting hydration. We recommend our Blueberry Acai wintertime moisturizer!

9. Amp up your daily vitamins.
Vitamin C is never more important than in the wintertime. Making yourself a lovely juicy glass of freshly squeezed orange juice or grapefruit juice is the perfect potion to brighten up your skin.
10. Enjoy a daily banana.
Bananas are packed with antioxidants and fresh Vitamin C. Antioxidants are nature's best ingredient for protecting our skin from aging. Bananas a great nutritious snack and are high in fiber which makes for a healthy heart.
